This article aims to offer some critical reflections on the Scottish Government’s current languages education policy, Languages: a 1+2 approach. Two possible implementation models are outlined and discussed. The experience of implementing the policy in one authority and one cluster is described and evaluated in terms of the progress achieved so far.
