The Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL) Scottish Society has organised a free event this coming Saturday 19th November at 2pm in the Holiday Inn Glasgow City Centre Theatreland, West Nile Street, Glasgow G1 2RL.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Katerina Strani-Jefferson, Assistant Professor and Lecturer at the Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies (LINCS) at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Her presentation is entitled ‘Multilingual democracies – how does it work?’ She will focus on theoretical explorations of multilingualism in argumentation and in the construction of politics. We hope the presentation will stimulate a debate on how multilingualism is affecting contemporary societies at a socio-political level.
