Emma McLean, Administrative and Events Coordinator

In 2007, Emma worked at the University of Strathclyde for two years with responsibility for organising and administering short courses and conferences while completing her Modern Apprenticeship in Business and Administration.  The apprenticeship scheme provided Emma with invaluable skills and knowledge to further her career path which led her to joining SCILT in March 2010, taking on the role of Administrative Assistant.

Emma graduated at Dundee and Angus College, gaining a qualification in Administration and Information Technology in 2015, and successfully completed the Professional Services Development Programme at the University of Strathclyde in 2016.

Emma’s main role is administrative support for the Centre’s Director, Administrator and Professional Development team, ensuring that all processes are run efficiently within SCILT.
She also acts as Line Manager to the Administrative Assistant, and is first port of call for all SCILT enquiries.

Emma is directly involved in supporting all career-long professional learning events and is the main point of contact for conferences, primarily Business Brunches, LanguageStrathclyde and the 1+2 Languages Leadership Programme Summer School.
She is the go-to person for travel and accommodation arrangements and is responsible for assisting with all financial processes of the centre.

Emma particularly enjoys travelling, keeping fit, international films and anime, and is always keen to explore new adventures.
